Job
Summary:
The
Accounts Payable Technician will be
responsible for disbursing funds of the
Company, as well as recording financial
transactions, such as accounts payable,
and other general accounting functions
as required. The Accounts Payable
Technician will perform diversified
duties using initiative and judgment in
analyzing information and determine a
course of action within the
specifications of standard practice and
established guidelines. Job
Description:
The
Accounts Payable Technician will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:

Review data for accuracy and
completeness through the accounts
payable cycle
-
Resolve discrepancies or
incompleteness of financial
documentation supporting payments
involving communication with
vendors, campus members, and
students and/or funding sources
before further processing and if
necessary, makes correcting entries
-
Place
vouchers on hold while researching
1099 status and/or sales and use tax
requirements.

Responsible for reviewing output for
accuracy and completeness using the
Pre-Check Register report.

Perform batch processes necessary to
process vouchers for payment such as
matching purchase order against
vouchers, budget checking and
posting vouchers
-
Prepare checks to be mailed or
distributed for on campus pick-up
-
Run
query reports as needed for
researching vendor balances
-
Provide prompt and courteous
customer service for both internal
and external customers.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill
For Accounts Payable Technician Job

Equivalent of three years or
progressive responsible financial
record-keeping experience
-
Working knowledge of financial
record-keeping methods, procedures,
and practices; arithmetic and
general office procedures
-
Ability to review financial
documents for accuracy,
completeness, validity and adherence
to standards
-
Ability to compute and post figures
rapidly and accurately; identify,
trace and correct errors, interpret
and apply written rules and
regulations, and use computer
applications to support accounting
functions
-
Ability to use PeopleSoft software,
QuickBooks, Excel, and Word
-
Ability and desire to learn new
computer applications to improve
efficiency and effectiveness
-
Skilled in using a 10 key adding
machine.
