The Payroll Consultant performs various payroll duties/tasksJob Summary

The Payroll Consultant will be responsible for developing, documenting and maintaining payroll standards, processes, and procedures to minimize risk and facilitate whole-Company reporting.

He/She will effectively communicate this information to payroll system users; perform periodic audits to verify compliance.

The Payroll Consultant will provide a high level of expertise and guidance to support decentralized payroll system users in payroll planning, processing and problem resolution.

He/She will research and respond to requests on Corporate payroll tax filings not handled by the Application Service Provider.

Job Description:

The Payroll Consultant will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • Standardize payroll practices across Company

  • Develop and maintain payroll standards documentation and ensure that up-to-date documentation is posted on Airnet

  • The Payroll Consultant will manage communication and training of payroll standards, processes and procedures

  • Provide day-to-day support to guide decentralized payroll system users through challenges that require a higher level of expertise

  • He/She will plan, test and implement payroll-affecting changes (e.g., new earnings/deductions codes, systems interfaces, special calcs, etc)

  • The Payroll Consultant will communicate such changes to payroll system users as may be needed

  • Maintain relationship with third party providers acting as system host and/or providing other system support

  • The Payroll Consultant will ensure that the hosting partner and other support providers are properly maintaining and testing the Payroll system to ensure efficient operation, processing and report generation

  • He/She will stay informed of proposed/new legislation that is payroll-affecting. Test and implement new system functionality intended to support such legislation, document and communicate associated procedures

  • The Payroll Consultant will participate in the selection and implementation of Payroll systems, and in the requirements definition, testing and implementation of upgrades, enhancements and modifications

  • He/She will maintain system security access (e.g. digital certificates, etc.) for payroll system users

  • He/She will work with Tax Filing Service to address Corporate Payroll tax filing discrepancies

  • Serve as liaison between payroll system users and Central Accounting Group (CAG). 

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Payroll Consultant Job

  • The Payroll Consultant should possess 7+ years full charge Payroll experience using automated Payroll systems. (Experience with ADP Enterprise and ReportSmith preferred.)

  • 3+ years experience developing and supporting entry-level and mid-level payroll system users

  • He/She should have expertise with various resources to research taxability issues and new legislation that affects payroll

  • Experience with the implementation of new systems, enhancements or upgrades

  • The Payroll Consultant should have business-minded approach to problem solving that involves rapport building and interaction with all levels of management

  • Possess the ability to plan and lead projects to timely and successful implementation

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong organizational skills

  • The Payroll Consultant should have strong problem solving/analytical skills

  • He/She should be self-starting, proactive individual that is comfortable working independently and in teams.

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Payroll Consultant Job

  • Bachelorís degree in Accounting or other related discipline, or equivalent experience

  • APA Certification.
