Job Summary:
The
Senior Vice President Accounting Policy
is responsible for the development of
accounting and process changes as they
relate to technical accounting
standards; collaborates with senior
financial management across the
organization in strategically setting
policy and controls and evaluating
business transactions; develop,
implement, review and monitor accounting
policies for the company to ensure
compliance with GAAP and banking
industry standards.

Description:
The
Senior Vice President Accounting Policy will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:

Implement new accounting standards,
including coordination with
Controller's department and other
business groups
-
Lead
the company's effort to adopt IFRS
-
Monitor emerging accounting
standards relevant to the company as
they evolve prior to issuance,
interpret their impact to the
Company, and present their status to
senior Finance management
-
Potentially lead the preparation of
comment letters to the standard
setters
-
Manage accounting policies and
update and maintain the corporate
accounting policy manual. Provide
expertise in recommending
enhancements and/or additions to the
company's existing Accounting Policy
Manual
-
Provide proactive, expert
consultation and technical support
on business transactions (e.g.,
mergers and acquisitions,
dispositions, asset sales and
leases) by identifying and
addressing accounting policy and
reporting issues and opportunities
(e.g., lead financial accounting due
diligence efforts; apply complex
accounting and reporting concepts to
deal structures)

Establish and maintain strong,
collaborative relationships with
Finance partners and other internal
stakeholder groups, to understand
the business and ensure timely
exchange of information

Provide ongoing guidance to business
partners
-
Represent the company externally on
issues relating to accounting policy
through participation in various
industry-wide organizations.

Expert level of understanding of
current GAAP, financial reporting
principles and SEC regulatory
requirements

Demonstrated expertise in analyzing
and recommending appropriate
strategies and accounting treatment
of routine and complex financial
transactions

Excellent organizational and project
management skills

Exceptional communication skills -
both written and verbal
-
Ability to develop and maintain
effective relationships with a broad
group of stakeholders in order to
foster trust and influence key
decisions

Strong quantitative and qualitative
analysis skills; ability to take
large volumes of complex information
and present it in a clear and
concise manner to senior management.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For Senior
Vice President Accounting Policy Job

Accounting (or Finance) degree
-
CPA
certification
-
Minimum 15 years related experience,
including: public accounting (at
least 5 years), banking industry
experience, and accounting policy
-
SEC
reporting and/or SOX-related
experience in public accounting or
industry.
