Job Summary:
The Admin
Charge Nurse will utilize discretion and
independent judgment in providing
supervision and management of a team of
licensed and unlicensed nursing staff
during an assigned shift on a designated
unit.

Description:
The
Admin Charge Nurse will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
-
Collaborate with the leadership team
(Nurse Manager and other Charge
Nurses) to ensure continuity of care
is provided from shift-to-shift, 24
hours a day, 7 days a week
-
Coordinate and oversee healthcare
team that provides age-specific
patient care where deems appropriate
-
Consult with Nurse Manager to manage
unit operations and human resources,
evaluate assigned personnel for
clinical competency, serve as a
resource to staff and provide direct
patient care as needed
-
Serve
as a role model and provide positive
influence to facilitate change
-
Utilize interpersonal skills to
maximize customer service in a
manner that supports excellence in
customer service, safe patient care,
and professionalism
-
Contribute to a work environment of
caring and cooperation among a
culturally diverse workforce and
patient population
-
Perform other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge /
Skill For Admin Charge Nurse Job

Knowledge of psychotropic
medications
-
Knowledge of appropriate age group
-
One
or more years med/surg, and, as
applicable
-
One
or more years in acute psych. of age
group preferred
-
One
or more years in chemical
dependency/detox preferred
-
Supervisory experience preferred
-
Basic
clinical skills in delivery of
nursing care in acute care facility
-
Ability to speak clearly in person
and over the phone
-
Ability to write clearly and
concisely, ability to listen well
and interact appropriately with
other employees and outside agencies
-
Ability to input data into computer;
good eye-hand coordination
-
Ability to develop positive
therapeutic interactions with
patient, patient families,
co-workers, supervisors, medical
staff and outside agencies, maintain
calm demeanor in crisis situations
-
Ability to maintain confidentiality
-
Ability to assess patients’
conditions, interpret care plan,
comprehend appropriate
interventions, evaluate patient
response to care, teach patients and
families
-
Ability to concentrate on several
assignments simultaneously

Ability to edit, organize and
prioritize

Ability to work with limited
supervision

Ability to execute duties in an
efficient manner with attention to
detail

Ability to receive and accurately
carry out instructions.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For Admin
Charge Nurse Job
-
Graduate of a school of nursing,
Bachelor of Science of
Nursing/Masters of Nursing for
charge nurse position preferred
-
Current and unrestricted State
license
-
Psychiatric nursing or clinical
specialist certification preferred
-
Chemical dependency nursing
certification or specialist
preferred
-
Current basic life support
certification.
