Description:
The
Charge Nurse will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:

The
Charge Nurse will serve
as the clinical leader on the unit
and responsible for coordinating
nursing care for patients on
assigned unit
-
He/She will participate in patient/family
teaching and provide leadership by
working cooperatively with ancillary
nursing and other patient team
personnel to maintain standards for
professional nursing practice in the
clinical setting
-
The
Charge Nurse will effectively provide age appropriate
care.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge /
Skill For Charge Nurse Job

The
Charge Nurse should possess 2
years recent acute care RN
experience in the same or a similar
unit
-
He/She should possess previous charge nurse experience
and/or 2 years relevant leadership
experience
-
The
Charge Nurse should have effective communication skills
-
He/She must have the ability to plan and direct work
activities of staff to achieve
organization, unit, shift and
patient care goals
-
He/She should have the ability to manage time effectively
and set priorities
-
The
Charge Nurse must have the ability to gather, collate and
classify information
-
He/She must be able to resolve problems
independently and make decisions
-
He/She must have the ability to function as a resource to
all levels of nursing and unit
personnel to provide optimal patient
care
-
The
Charge Nurse should have strong computer skills
-
He/She should have the knowledge of current area of
specialty nursing practices,
techniques and procedures
-
The
Charge Nurse must have excellent customer service and
communication skills
-
He/She must be able to coordinate multiple tasks
simultaneously
-
He/She must have the ability to facilitate staff
accountability and clinical
development of team members
-
The
Charge Nurse must be able to determine most effective
use of resources to achieve unit
fiscal and patient care quality
goals.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For Charge Nurse Job
-
The
Charge Nurse must be a graduate of an accredited school of
nursing. BSN preferred
-
He/She must be currently licensed as a Sate
Registered Nurse
-
He/She should have certification in Basic Life Support,
Advanced Cardiac Life Support,
(based on unit specific needs);
certification in specialty
preferred.
