Job Summary:
The
Family Practice Nurse Practitioner is
responsible for providing Advanced
Practice Nursing or Physician Assistant
level support for patients in the
psychiatric inpatient and partial
hospital program(s) through working with
the treatment team completing medical
consultations, history and physical
examinations, and medical medication
assessment and adjustments.

Description:
The
Family Practice Nurse Practitioner will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:

Evaluate,
diagnose, and treat patients in the
hospital program by providing
medical consultations, completion of
history and physical examinations,
health teaching, prescribing of
medication and communicating medical
issues to the treatment team

Prescribe medication and
consistently utilize the nursing
process to provide quality patient
care to hospital patients
-
Revise medical medication and
nursing care plans as needed in
conjunction with Program Director
and treatment planning goals
-
Follow hospital nursing policies and
procedures in prescribing
medications and treatments.

Document medications and treatments
in patient charts
-
Document treatment plans as well as
any changes to the treatment plan in
the patient chart
-
Document on patient progress notes
and maintain up to date records as
needed
-
Communicate any treatment related
information as needed.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge /
Skill For Family Practice Nurse
Practitioner Job

1-4
years of Previous family practice
experience
-
Proficient with written and verbal
communication skills
-
Knowledge of community-based and
state agencies with regard to
behavioral health services
-
Knowledge and skills necessary to
interact compassionately and
appropriately with patients and
their families on a regular basis
-
Ability to deal tactfully with
sensitive situations and maintain
patient confidentiality
-
Ability to interact effectively with
other hospital departments to
achieve desired outcome for the
patient.
Minimum Education Requirements /
Certification / Licensure For Family
Practice Nurse Practitioner Job
-
Nurse Practitioner (APRN/NP),
Physician Assistant (PA), or Masters
level licensure as Clinical Nurse
Specialist(CNS), or equivalent
related licensure.
