Registered Nurse, Shift Supervisor is
responsible for providing clinical and
administrative supervision, support and
coordination of patient and staff
activities on shift duties.

The
Registered Nurse, Shift Supervisor will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
-
Serve
in a supervisory capacity on
assigned shift by providing clinical
and administrative support to the
in-patient nursing units on shift
-
Conduct admissions in compliance
with applicable standards,
regulations and hospital protocol
-
Supervise and assign areas of
responsibility for RNs, LPNs and
MHTs during shift
-
Collect
and analyze data regarding the
patient’s physical, psychosocial,
environmental, self-care,
educational, and anticipated
discharge planning needs
-
Determine patients’ alcohol or drug
toxicity and identify signs of
withdrawal
-
Develop a comprehensive outline of
care and specific goals and
interventions to be included in
treatment planning
-
Administer medications in a safe,
accurate, and timely manner
-
Monitor patients following nursing
unit policies and procedures
-
Communicate changes in patient’s
status (legal, psychiatric,
physical) with attending physician
-
Inform incoming shift of any changes
or problems with patients to promote
continuity of care.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill

Five years recent nursing experience
in a psychiatric setting with
previous supervisory experience
-
Familiarity with nursing and
hospital organizational functions,
including inter and
intra-departmental relationships.
