Ambulatory Scheduler Job Description

 

 

 

Job Summary:

The Ambulatory Scheduler will schedule outpatient procedures, at all Organization's facilities, based on physician orders and patient referrals.

Job Description:

The Ambulatory Scheduler will perform all or some of the following Job description:

  • The Ambulatory Scheduler will obtain the necessary patient information for the requested procedure(s)

  • He/She will review availability of appointments and patient preference for time and location for the procedure

  • The Ambulatory Scheduler will perform its duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Organization's mission and core values.  

Minimum Requirements / Knowledge / Skill For Ambulatory Scheduler Job

  • The Ambulatory Scheduler should have knowledge of medical terminology
  • He/She should have 3-5 years of experience in health care
  • Possess knowledge of ambulatory procedure performed at an outpatient facility or hospital
  • The Ambulatory Scheduler should possess intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft office products in a Windows based environment
  • He/She should have experience with Enterprise Scheduling system (McKesson PHS) preferred
  • Possess the ability to sit and answer phones for extended periods of time
  • The Ambulatory Scheduler must be able to deliver high customer service, work with minimum supervision, multitask in a high call volume environment and communicate effectively with staff and patients
  • Possess strong keyboarding and enunciation skills
  • The Ambulatory Scheduler must be able to type a minimum of at least 30 wpm.   

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification / Licensure For Ambulatory Scheduler Job

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
