The
Financial Counselor-Scheduler will perform
all or some of the following Job
description:
The
Financial Counselor-Scheduler will
assure patients have all the information
they need by discussing the clinical
information, and inform the patient of
financial obligations at the time of
admission, so that they will arrive on
time and prepared for their procedures.
Received request to schedule procedures
from various customers
Schedule
the procedure according to the
availability of the department
The
Financial Counselor/Scheduler will
perform the quality control function for
scheduled procedures and emergency
accounts ensuring all pertinent
information is available and accurately
documented, allowing for timely and
efficient billing
The
Financial Counselor-Scheduler will
generate weekly status reports,
communication with multiple departments,
monitoring accounts for proper
documentation of third-party review
notification, authorizations, insurance
verifications, collection of deposits
and self-pay balances, securing
reimbursement methods for non-insured
admits, computer update on accounts, and
the collection and verification of
relevant patient data.
Minimum Requirements / Knowledge /
Skill For Financial Counselor-Scheduler Job
The
Financial Counselor-Scheduler should
have previous experience in insurance
billing, including Medicare, Medi-Cal,
HMO/PPO, Workman Compensation, and TPL,
in a hospital, medical office or clinic,
preferred
Experience in appointment scheduling in
a hospital, medical office or clinic
required
Demonstrated experience in serving
customer needs to a diverse public,
required
The
Financial Counselor-Scheduler should
have registration experience in a
hospital, medical office or clinic
Prior
work experience operating a CRT, and
other office equipment
The
Financial Counselor-Scheduler should
have working knowledge of all hospital
patient accounting functions, including
pre-admissions, hospital appointment
scheduling, and registration
He/She
should demonstrate understanding of need
for compliance with coding guidelines,
policies and/or procedures
Demonstrate understanding of basic
medical terminology and limited
diagnosis information
The
Financial Counselor-Scheduler should
have
previous
knowledge and understanding of the
third-party review process
Show
understanding of payor funding and
authorization procedures to ensure
payment
The
Financial Counselor-Scheduler should
show
understanding of government/state payors,
including eligibility factors
He/She
should possess basic knowledge of
medical and insurance terminology
The
Financial Counselor-Scheduler should
have the
ability
to interpret billing manuals and
insurance/third-party coverage
He/She
should be able to
type 25
wpm

proficient in the use of CRT, fax
machines, multi-line phone systems, and
10-key calculator by touch
Possess
excellent
interpersonal and telephone skills
